Praemium Imperiale 2005 awarded to Yoshio Taniguchi in the category architecture

Japan > Yoshio Taniguchi received the Praemium Imperiale 2005, a prize awarded every year to the exponents of five artistic disciplines (painting, sculpture, architecture, music and theatre – or cinema), whose work “gives exemplary contribution to culture and art development in the world”. Besides Taniguchi, they were also awarded: fashion stylist Issey Miyake, painter Robert Ryman, choreographer Merce Cunningham and Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich [praemiumimperiale.org].
