Prende avvio la quinta edizione del concorso di lighting design e della mostra LAMP (Lighting Architecture Movement Project) che, quest'anno, ha evoluto il suo formato diventando un evento biennale per dare ai progettisti la possibilità di mettere a punto con maggiore precisione i progetti con cui parteciperanno al concorso in vista dell'esposizione.
Sin dal 2013, anno di istituzione della competizione, l'obiettivo è stato quello di introdurre un pubblico sempre più vasto al lighting design, promuovendo contemporaneamente i rapporti tra talenti emergenti e nuovi mercati.
Ogni anno il concorso chiede ai progettisti di cimentarsi con un nuovo tema individuato da una parola che dovranno concettualizzare e che, per il 2017, è "Balance".
Il concorso è aperto ad artisti, designer industriali e architetti e suddiviso in tre categorie: studenti, emergenti e affermati
L A M P aims to introduce a broader audience to lighting design while promoting and connecting emerging talents to new markets. Each year the competition challenges designers to approach their lighting fixtures with the guidance of a theme. Competition Finalists from around the world are showcased at the L A M P Opening Reception in Vancouver, BC.
Moving into our 5th year of the competition & exhibition, we have decided to extend the overall timeframe... We are very excited to announce that L A M P is evolving from our annual competition & event to a biannual format. This will provide designers time to fully execute their designs and prototypes for the entry deadline & exhibition.
Designers receive a thematic word to interpret in their own way and have nine months to conceptualize their design for the judging process. The 2017 theme is: Balance.
ELIGIBILITY
There are 3 categories: Established, Emerging and Student.
Emerging designers have been a practicing designer for less than three years and are not in school.
Established designers have had an established career for more than three years.
Students are currently in school for design.
REGISTRATION AND FEES
Participants can submit their works from 1st June, 2017 to 15th December, 2017. Finalists will be announced on August 2018.
Registration fees are the following:
- Early Bird: June 1 - August 15
Emerging designers: $ 45
Established designers: $ 70
Students: $ 25 - Regular: August 16 - November 15
Emerging designers: $ 60
Established designers: $ 85
Students: $ 30 - Late: November 16 - December 15
Emerging designers: $ 75
Established designers: $ 100
Students: $ 45
SUBMISSION
Submissions must be received via the online entry system no later than 15th December, 2017.
PRIZES
Prizes will not be announced until May 1st.
EXHIBITION
L A M P exhibition will be in the fall of 2018 celebrating the winners of the 2017 Biennial Competition.
