Dichterbij, un ente olandese che supporta bambini e adulti con disabilità mentali, promuove il concorso CAREfully designed. A redevelopment of the Mikadoterrein destinato a dare un nuovo design al sito di Mikado.
La zona, in passato, ospitava un centinaio di pazienti in terapia intensiva. Oggi quel numero è sceso a cinquanta. Vari fattori in campo sanitario, infatti, hanno determinato un trasferimento dei cittadini, mentre l'età dei pazienti continua ad aumentare.
Gli edifici sono diventati vecchi e logori e non sono più capaci di soddisfare la domanda di chi ha bisogno di cure.
L'obiettivo del concorso, indirizzato ad architetti, studenti, designer o artisti che possono partecipare individualmente o in gruppi, è quello di dare un nuovo design a questi ambienti per favorire la degenza a lungo termine. Il modello da seguire sarà quello di uno spazio polifunzionale, che non sia destinato esclusivamente all'assistenza sanitaria, ma raccolga al suo interno una serie di funzioni complementari utili a migliorare la qualità della vita dei pazienti ricoverati.
Le iscrizioni al concorso sono aperte dal 4 luglio al 17 ottobre 2016, data di consegna degli elaborati progettuali.
Dichterbij (a Dutch care institution that supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities) is looking for a new design for the Mikado site. Where formerly the care institution cared for about a hundred clients under intensive care, the number has now dropped to under fifty. A variety of influencing factors in the healthcare field, the relocation of residents, and the increasing age of clients, are making the building more difficult to fill. In addition, the buildings have aged and no longer satisfy the residents' needs, resulting in a preference for placing clients at other locations. The requirement for this location is as follows: to create a design that will accommodate long-term care. The basis of the design should be healthcare 2.0, also allowing space for other functions, and not a standard healthcare concept. One is free to interpret the healthcare 2.0 concept in one's own way, with virtually everything being acceptable. But take care! The location is in the middle of a residential area and the residents place a high level of importance on the quality of life in the village. We want to guarantee the quality of life, which means that the new design should complement its environment. So take care with the design and design with care!
Competitors
Competitors can be students, graduated, architects, designers or artists: it is not mandatory to be involved in architectural disciplines or enrolled in architectural associations.
Competitors can join the competition both individually and in team. Teams must have at least one team member above 18 years old and can be composed by any number of team members. Groups can be also composed by any competitors belonging to different countries and universities.
