SJCH San Juan Cruise Hub.

ArchMedium proposes the construction of a new cruise terminal that optimizes the connection between the city and cruise ships. An ideas competition that raises a double scale: Understanding the terminal as a gateway to Puerto Rico and understanding the terminal equipment for collective use among the community.

Proposal

The ideas competition focuses on the design of the terminal cruise terminal. To simplify the program, the competition rejected the loading and unloading of luggage and other material to the ships. While it is not the aim of the competition, the proposal will have to lay out a basic form of the flow of the surrounded transport, the bus stops and taxis. The program does not require a parking area, being that there are two multistory parking's that supply the area. From the waiting rooms (height +-12m) you access the boarding bridges. These bridges connect the building of fixed height with the doors of the boats with variable heights depending on the model.

A jury composed by five locally recognized architects will vote the winning projects according to the contest criteria: Nataniel Fuster - Architect | Carlos Betancourt - Architect/Dean | Francisco Rodriguez - Architect/Dean | Andrés Mignucci - Urban Planner | Robin Planas - Young Architect
