Vyksa-10000: la Russia cerca proposte per il più grande murales del mondo

Il Festival Art-Ovrag di Vyksa, in Russia, indice il concorso di idee creative Vyksa-10000, con il quale invita artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo a presentare proposte per il più grande murale mai realizzato.

La competizione è indirizzata ad architetti, artisti, designer e chiunque abbia esperienza nella creazione di lavori monumentali in spazi aperti.

Gli obiettivi del concorso, lanciato in occasione dei festeggiamenti del 25° anniversario della United Metallurgical Company (OMK) e del 260° anniversario dello stabilimento metallurgico di Vyksa, sono quelli di migliorare l'ambiente urbano della città, di scoprire e sostenere giovani artisti di talento e di spingere l'attenzione della comunità verso la cultura contemporanea del murales. L'opera dovrà essere realizzata su una superficie di 10.000 metri quadrati, corrispondenti a una facciata di una fabbrica della Vyksa Steel che funziona da laminatoio.

Il concorso prevedere la selezione di un solo vincitore, che riceverà un premio in denaro di 1.000.000 rubli, pari a circa 15.700 €.

Vyksa-10000 is an international open contest to produce the mural on the facade of the factory in the town of Vyksa. The Mural is to be painted on the surface of a factory building of the the Vyksa Steel Works JSC rolling mill.
The promoter of the contest is OMK-Uchastie Charity Fund for Family Support. The host of the contest is the «8 Lines» architecture bureau. The winning project will be executed by ARTMOSPHERE Agency.

The mission of the contest is to make the art forms of mural and graffiti more popular and highlight them as a contemporary direction of visual arts. The Contest also aims to draw attention to the developments of visual arts in public spaces. The key objectives of the Contest are:

  • to draw public attention to the anniversary of the Vyksa Steel Works1 and the 25th anniversary of the OMK2 company
  • to improve urban environment of the town of Vyksa (the region of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia)
  • to discover and support new talents and gifted artists
  • to draw attention of the broader community to contemporary culture.

ELIGIBILITY

The Contest invites artists, designers and architects who are experienced in creating monumental works in wide open spaces. 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

There are 4 stages to the Contest:

  • Stage 1. The application period.
    Potential contenders and general public will be invited to take part in the Contest. They can send their applications during the period from November 23rd 2016 till January 31st, 2017 (18:00 Moscow Standard Time).
    The applications are accepted online via an application form at www.artovrag-fest.ru/vyksa10000.
  • Stage 2. The work of the Jury.
    The Expert Council and the Jury of the Contest will select 50 finalists out of all submitted applications, will evaluate applications and announce the winner. The announcement will take place on February 28th, 2017.
  • Stage 3. Implementation of the projects.
    The winning projects will be produced at the town of Vyksa (the region of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) during the period between March 15th, 2017 and June 10th, 2017.
  • Stage 4. Presentation of the project at the ART OVRAG festival (June 16th-18th, 2017).

PRIZE

The Contest will have a single winner. The Host will award the winner with the prize money of ₽1000000.

The winner of the Contest will be granted the opportunity to produce his or her project on the site, determined by the Promoter.
