Terza edizione del Matimex International Architecture Prize, il concorso di idee internazionale per studenti e professionisti, lanciato da Matimex, S.A. in collaborazione con Iris Ceramica Group, che intende concentrarsi sul tema dell'architettura dell'equilibrio, quella che risponde alla celebre citazione di Giovenale "Mens sana in corpore sano".
La ricerca del benessere costituisce, ormai, un concetto fondamentale nella nostra società, perché siamo consapevoli di aver bisogno di prenderci cura del nostro corpo senza dimenticare di allenare la nostra mente. Molti spazi architettonici sono dedicati alla ricerca di questo equilibrio: strutture sportive, palestre, centri per trattamenti alternativi, spa, wellness hotel, beauty center e molti altri, così come i luoghi dedicati alla salute e ai trattamenti medici. Eppure ci sono ancora nuovi mondi da esplorare in questo particolare campo dell'architettura e dell'interior design.
L'intenzione della competizione è proprio quella di progettare un nuovo spazio o di recuperarne uno esistente facendo riferimento al tema del concorso: "The architecture of balance. Mens sana in corpore sano". Nel progetto si deve fare uso di materiali Iris Ceramica Group: Fiandre Maximum - Iris Hilite - FMG Maxfine - Ariostea Ultra - Porcelaingres Just Great - Eiffelgres Megamicro.
The theme of the Matimex International Architecture Prize, offered for the third time this year, is the architecture of balance. "Mens sana in corpore sano".
Juvenal's famous words remind us how important it is to maintain the proper balance between body and mind in order to enjoy life to the full. Holistic well-being is an increasingly widely accepted concept in today's society, as we realise that we need to take care of our bodies just as we keep our minds trained; the two are parts of a single indivisible whole.
Many architectural spaces are partly or entirely dedicated to the attempt to achieve this balance: sports facilities, gyms, alternative treatment centres, spas, wellness hotels, beauty centres and so on, as well as centres dedicated entirely to health and medical treatments. But we are confident that there are still many ways of exploring this field of architecture and interior design.
The idea is to design a new space or reclaim an existing space of one or more of the following types, or a space inspired by the main theme of the contest: "The architecture of balance: Mens sana in corpore sano".
ELIGIBILITY
Registration is open to:
- Professionals:
a. Architects, architectural technologists, engineers, interior designers, designers,...
b. Multidisciplinary teams of: architects, architectural technologists, engineers, interior designers, designers,... - Students:
a. Students of design, interior design, engineering, architecture or architectural technology.
b. Multidisciplinary teams of students of design, interior design, engineering, architecture or architectural technology.
Entrants may submit their entries as individuals or groups of up to 5 people.
REGISTRATION
Registration for the Matimex International Architecture Prize is entirely free of charge and takes place by completing the registration process on the web site www.premiosmatimex.es.
The time period for registration and submission of entries is from January 30, 2017 on May 08, 2017.
Each registration code entitles contestants to submit a single design proposal, either individually or as a group.
PRIZES
Prize for Professionals:
- 1st Prize: 3,000 euro
- 2nd Prize: 1,000 euro
- 1st Honourable mention. No cash prize.
- 2nd Honourable mention. No cash prize.
Prize for Students:
- 1st Prize: 1,000 euro
- 2nd Prize: 500 euro
Prizes will be officially announced and presented in person to the contestant or group representative identified at the time of registration, at an awards ceremony to be held in the month of June 2017 (date to be determined).
