The construction industry is the UK's largest user of natural resources, with 25 million tonnes of construction, demolition and excavation waste disposed to landfill each year. This has significant financial implications and impacts on the environment not only in the loss of natural resources, but also in carbon emissions from the manufacture and transport of wasted materials and their degradation in landfill.
Architects and designers can make a real difference in reducing this waste, by considering how their design decisions in the development of a project influence materials use and waste creation in construction.
WRAP has launched an International Open Ideas Competition to explore and develop the principles outlined in their Designing out Waste guide.
Enter today for the opportunity to showcase your ideas to the industry and the potential to be selected to receive a share of the total Design Fund of GBP £20,000 (inclusive of VAT).
- Registration closes on 23 June 2009
- Submission deadline 30 June 2009
