Quantity surveyors manage the costs on a construction project. They help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly
prepare, maintain and develop a cost plan and cash flow forecast.
price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project
liaise with the Client and the Professional Team to determine the Client’s initial requirements and to develop the Client’s Brief. Prepare recommendations for the Client’s approval
select and/or source construction materials
prepare regular/monthly cost reports
classify the construction costs in accordance with International Construction Measurement Standards.
Previous Quantity Surveying experience on mid-sized to large architectural projects (Minimum of five years of professional experience)
Experience in mid-sized to large architectural projects, including urban design and resort hotels
Experience on site, ideally in the Middle East and Africa
Good IT skills
Good pre and post contract knowledge
Responsibility for general commercial project management including provision of the following:
- monthly cost value reconciliations, cashflow monitoring, monthly and quarterly forecasts
- monthly application for payment
Knowledge of typical international work stages
